Building Confidence For Children

Confidence Development and Stages in Children

Confidence Development and Stages in Children is a book written by Dr. Joseph A. Diogenes. This book explores different aspects of children’s confidence and development. It includes how you can teach your kids to develop their confidence level. It also examines the different situations that may challenge the confidence of children. These situations also help parents and teachers to identify what might be the causes for the lack of confidence of children.

The basic foundation of confidence is being able to believe in ones’ own ability and abilities. To develop this confidence a child needs to understand, recognize, and accept his or her own abilities. Once a child develops a sense of self-worth, self-awareness, and self-confidence these essential building blocks of confidence are already built into him or her. The next step in the confidence development process is to be able to trust in one’s own abilities and not to be focused on what others think of them.

A good start for the confidence development in children is to have them do simple and easy tasks. Doing something for which they have no experience whatsoever helps them develop a sense of accomplishment. For example, when your child is asked to draw a picture of what he or she is doing, if they are not sure they can do it then they will not be very confident in their abilities. If they then try to draw a picture of the action correctly, they will feel more at ease. This also applies to simple daily tasks such as saying “I am going to” rather than “I do”.

Children need to spend time doing the things that they enjoy. This keeps their mind occupied, allows them to use their imagination, and it allows them to work productively. One of the best ways to occupy your child’s mind is through games that require dexterity and problem solving skills. They should not be forced to play games that they do not enjoy.

Parents should encourage and compliment their children on any breakthroughs or successes. This is another way to encourage confidence development. The more praise and attention that you give your child the more self-confident they will become. This will encourage further exploration and increase their self-esteem.

As they grow older you can help your child in their confidence development by giving them extra guidance and input in certain areas. Let them know that you are there for them to guide them in the right direction, but do not direct them on what they should do. This could confuse and agitate them. You may want to teach your child some martial arts moves to help them with confidence building skills.

Finally, make sure your child has regular practice and interaction with a trusted adult who they can call upon for help if they fall down or get hurt. Confidence boosters help a great deal when your child is young. As they get older however they will need more guidance to help them develop a healthy sense of self worth. A parent is an essential part of a child’s success in overcoming their shyness and confidence issues.

A confident child is a healthy child. Confidence development can be helped by many people including family, friends, teachers, coaches, and parents. Always keep an open mind to encouraging words and phrases from those around you. It can give you an insight into how your child feels and brings you closer to understanding them better. When you are able to understand where they are coming from it will be much easier to assist them with confidence development in their lives. A healthy self-image is worth all of the struggle that goes into developing confidence.
