What exactly is detox? Detoxification is the medical or physical removal of poisonous materials from the body, which includes the body itself, and is mostly carried out by the kidney. The human liver also performs an important role in this process by maintaining adequate levels of chemicals used to breakdown waste products and generate energy in the cells. In order for these chemicals to be properly broken down and used, there must be enough energy present. This energy can come from the food that we eat, or it can be supplied by exercise. However, if there is not enough energy in the cells for cellular regeneration or growth, the result will be the weakening of muscle tissue, and eventually the weakness of the entire body.
